30 days in, how is your mental health doing?
We are beginning a month since the news of Covid-19 hit us like a freight train. Everyone is home. The world around us is at a standstill. Every day feels like Groundhog Day. There is more time now to do stuff than we’ve ever had before.
Yet, most of us are getting restless, a bit agitated, and scared of what things will look like when we open our doors again and step outside.
So, now more than ever, it is crucial that we all take care of our mental health. Let’s switch that around, the health of our mental state. How mentally healthy do you feel? Are you making sure that every day you are checking in with yourself and asking, “How am I doing? How do I really feel right now? What do I need to do to feel better?”
One thing that I do that makes me feel instantly better is listen to music. Music has the amazing ability to transform the way we feel in a matter of seconds. It takes us out of our own relentless mind chatter and allows our imagination to take over. Music can stimulate our endorphins and create feelings within us that are pleasing and enjoyable.
Music also connects us. It is one of the few things that every single one of us finds pleasure in.
So during this strange time I highly recommend that all of us take a half hour (at least) out of our day and listen to some good music. Put on headphones or just lay there and let your mind travel where it will.
And if you feel so inclined…dance. Your brain, body, and immune system will thank you.
Here is something that I’ve been listening to lately:
Sending you all healing energy.
